Electric vehicle own damage insurance glossary
Terms from the policy text, in plain language. Each definition also says where the term changes your decision — knowing what a word means is not enough; you need to know where to look in your own policy.

What these definitions are not
These explanations are informational and do not replace the regulatory text. What binds you is your own policy's general and special conditions; a term may be defined differently there. POLİÇEK recommends no insurer.
16 terms
- AC / DC Şarj
- AC charging is slow charging through the vehicle's own converter; DC charging is fast charging with current the station delivers straight to the battery. Faulty-charging provisions usually distinguish between the two.
- Akım Kaynaklı Hava Olayı Zararı
- Damage caused to the vehicle or the charging unit by current arising from lightning or storm. In classic kasko it is usually not a separate heading; in electric-vehicle products it may appear as a separate cover.
- Batarya Eskime Payı
- The share deducted from the indemnity for a battery loss according to the battery's age or use. The rate and the calculation method depend on product conditions — if they are not written in the policy, how much of the loss stays with the insured cannot be known in advance.
- Batarya Sağlık Durumu (SoH)
- The share of its original capacity the battery can still hold today (state of health). It may be the basis for valuation after a loss and for calculating depreciation; if the policy does not state it, the yardstick to be used is unclear.
- Duvar Tipi Şarj Ünitesi (Wallbox)
- A charging unit fixed to a home or workplace. IT IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE: for it to fall under kasko it must be written in the policy explicitly, otherwise it is looked for under the home or business policy.
- Hatalı Şarj
- Electrical damage arising from the CHARGING PROCESS: unsuitable wiring, a faulty station or the use of the wrong cable. In most products the cover is written together with its own exclusions; the scope cannot be understood without reading the exclusion in the clause.
- Menzil
- The distance a vehicle with a full battery can travel on a single charge (range). It is not the subject of the insurance contract; it comes up when discussing how long a courtesy car is needed after a loss and the limits of the towing service.
- Mobil Şarj Hizmeti
- Charging the vehicle where it stands, or towing it to the nearest station, when it runs out of energy on the road. It is the counterpart of the refuelling service in an internal-combustion vehicle; its scope is defined in the service booklet.
- Muafiyetsiz Batarya Klozu
- A clause explicitly stating that no deductible applies to a battery loss. Its absence does NOT mean the battery is excluded; it only shows that the absence of a deductible is not written down.
- Rejeneratif Frenleme
- The motor acting as a generator while slowing down and returning energy to the battery (regenerative braking). It leads to less brake-pad wear; in post-loss disputes over part replacement it is assessed together with the vehicle's usage history.
- Tam Elektrikli / Hibrit Ayrımı
- A fully electric vehicle has NO fuel tank; a hybrid has both a battery and a fuel system. The distinction affects scope directly: covers specific to internal combustion, such as misfuelling, are meaningless in a fully electric vehicle, whereas charging covers may also be needed in a hybrid.
- Termal Kaçış (Thermal Runaway)
- Heating that starts in a battery cell and feeds itself until it turns into a fire (thermal runaway). It can occur during charging, in a damaged battery, or with a delay after flooding; this is why some products impose conditions on where a damaged vehicle is kept.
- Voltaj Dalgalanması
- Electrical damage caused to the vehicle or the charging unit by a sudden change in mains voltage. It can be INDEPENDENT of the charging process — it may happen while the vehicle is not charging at all.
- Yüksek Voltaj Sistemi
- The battery, power electronics, drive motor and the orange wiring between them — a system with no counterpart in an internal-combustion vehicle. Because of it, post-loss handling and towing require specific competence.
- Çekiş Bataryası (Traksiyon Bataryası)
- The high-voltage main battery pack that drives the vehicle (traction battery). In an electric vehicle it is often the single most expensive part, so kasko treats it as a separate cover and most products attach a separate deductible or depreciation clause to it.
- Şarj Kablosu (Mod 2 / Mod 3)
- Mode 2 is the cable supplied with the vehicle for charging from an ordinary socket; Mode 3 is the cable plugged into a station. Because it is carried separately from the vehicle, it is an item to be asked about separately for theft, accidental damage and rodent damage.
